SMT: BENEFITS

Self-managed teams achieve more than other teams and do so more quickly

SMTs can be exceptionally productive: When they are running effectively they invariably are.

They can save on management resources - and the associated costs - and significantly raise service levels and quality. The quality impact improves not only process quality but, in the right environment, material quality, too.

Team members learn from each other and encourage one another to do so. A team's activities include training sessions every day. Being a part of an effective team also improves the members' job satisfaction. Personnel become more highly skilled, more motivated and more effective with a higher morale. Members of high-performing teams are also likely to retained longer than other skilled personnel.
